Sera has been reading for awhile now, but usually in small bits and pieces. She is to the point now where she can sight read (mostly, without sounding out) and reads ALL the signs at the store every time we go out. She loves the "BOB" books, and has pretty much mastered level one. I think we will be moving up to the next level soon!
I know there are more than 3 reasons why she's smart but here are at least 3 of them.
When the book repeats itself, she says, "again" as in "Oh Again!" as if she read it the second time to herself and thought, "this couldn't be right, the book already said this once."
Even though I know this is the best way to learn to read. Short, rhyming words must make the brain super crazy, I mean hat sat sit fit. It's a little much, but she flies through like a champ.
And third, she's how old?!? Seriously. This is rad.
Now you know...this fills the heart of Sera's Great Aunt! How I wish I could figure out a way to have parents really understand the possibilites...Sera could be the poster child. Actually I often tell stories about Sera in the trainings I do with new teachers. Comprehension is so clear in Sera'a reading...oh the joys of seeing learning unfold!
I'm Flo, NOT "Slo", "Glo" or "Flow". Take note. I'm wife to a tall, sarcastic, hilarious man. I'm mama to 2 daughters, for whom my heart breaks daily. I write a few songs, I play them in front of people occasionally and I sell them on the internet. I'm a doula in training. If you bring up childbirth, expect to get tired of talking about it before I do:)
